The Justice Project
In Humanities the justice project was about taking all of the knowledge that we learned over the semester and apply it into a project that would reflect our own justice philosophy along with communicating to our fellow teachers, peers, and local society.
Over the semester we learn about different philosophies of justice, environmental ethics, films and monologues as well as a debate. Some of the different philosophies that we learned about were Utilitarianism and Libertarianism. We also learned about different environmental ethics such as collectivism vs individualism and environmental justice. We watch films such as true justice which brought racial justice into the light and with that learning how over the years we have improved but still struggle with this problem but we can still continue to improve in the future years. We also did justice monologues which was a good way to communicate how we took what we learned and twist it into how we view different topics of justice to us individually and being able to share that with fellow teachers and peers is very important and it brought us closer as a school community.
Lastly, we did a group summit in which we did a debate about the Bears Ears national monument students either represent against or for the monument but it was a way to show about what we had learned about that specific environmental justice case. It also showed how we can absorb information and then put forward good arguments about the topic we studied, the justice project brought all of it together in a final hooray. The justice project was able to have us express what we have learned into a piece of work that represented what our own justice philosophy is and being able to share that with the community.
